Position Overview

Job Type: Full-time
Days/Hours Needed: Monday-Friday (40 hours per week), occasional Saturdays (morning)
Shift: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Location: Washington, DC
Salary: $45,000 to $55,000 (DOE)

The Patient Care Representative will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations while fostering a welcoming environment for our pediatric patients and their families. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, creativity, and strong communication abilities, along with knowledge of pediatric therapy services. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a nurturing clinic that values individualized care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and greet pediatric patients, families, and visitors with warmth and professionalism, creating a friendly and child-centered atmosphere.
  • Answer phone calls, schedule therapy appointments accurately, and provide detailed information about clinic services.
  • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Coordinate appointments between therapists and families, and assist with rescheduling as needed.
  • Support parents or guardians with completing forms and necessary paperwork.
  • Communicate with families to collect and update patient information, including insurance details.
  • Verify insurance coverage, explain benefits to families, and assist with insurance claimsprocessing.
  • Manage patient accounts, handle copays, invoices, and balance billing.
  • Work closely with insurance providers to resolve billing or coverage issues.
  • Show sensitivity and understanding of pediatric healthcare needs, ensuring a smooth experience for families.
  • Maintain a welcoming and child-friendly waiting area, making special accommodations when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare policies, including patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Help maintain clinic policies and assist with adherence to healthcare regulations.
  • Use creativity to refresh lobby designs quarterly, creating a dynamic and inviting experience for our young patients.
  • Efficiently manage multiple tasks while maintaining a supportive and playful environment for children.
  • Learn and use tracking software (e.g., Google Sheets, Excel) to provide accurate data for administrative purposes.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Certification in medical billing and coding is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology to facilitate communication with healthcare professionals.
  • Proficiency in healthcare information systems for scheduling, record-keeping, and billing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • 2+ years of experience with insurance and medical billing.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a pediatric setting.
