Chantal Jora, CF-SLP
Chantal Jora, CF-SLP received her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from Gallaudet University in 2021. She completed her undergraduate studies at San Jose State University in Communicative Sciences & Disorders with a minor in Deaf Studies. She has experience working in hospital, pediatric private practice, school, and in community-based settings. Chantal found the field of speech-language pathology through her work with adults with developmental disabilities at a community-based nonprofit. She realized communication was a major barrier to success for her clients and wanted to support her client’s goals of becoming independent and self-fulfilled. Gallaudet University helped further instill the value of communication efficacy in teaching American Sign Language (ASL) to Deaf and Hard of Hearing children to facilitate language acquisition and combat language deprivation.
She’s passionate about holistic therapy, bilingualism, and literacy development in underserved populations. She cultivates cultural humility by continuously educating herself on the identities and cultures reflected on her caseload. Reading fundamentally sculpted Chantal’s formative years and for that reason she loves incorporating literacy in her therapy sessions. In her free time, she enjoys learning new languages (she’s fluent in ASL), going to the movies, learning new skills for her future homestead, and training her dog Miya.
